2007 MASSACHUSETTS ENA

GENERAL ASSEMBLY DELEGATE INFORMATION

We invite you to apply to become a Mass ENA delegate for the 2007 ENA General Assembly in Salt Lake City, Utah.   Please complete the application and send to Faye Everson at 64 Ebenezer  Lane  Brewster, MA  02631 (or e-mail Feverson@brocktonhospital.org) by the deadline of July 1, 2007.  Delegate applicants must be Massachusetts ENA members.  Delegate selection will take place during the July 18th State Council Executive Committee conference call and delegates will be notified by July 28th so that travel arrangements may be made (you are responsible for your own travel arrangements).  If selected as a delegate, responsibilities include:

1.       Attendance at the September 19th State Council meeting and delegate’s forum at the Doubletree Westborough       5:30p – 8:00p

2.       In Salt Lake City, delegates must attend all General Assembly sessions  on September 26th and 27th and participate in the voting process

3.       Each delegate must read the information packet sent to them before attending the September 19th delegate’s forum on September 19th

4.       First time delegates are encouraged to attend a New Delegate’s orientation held on Tuesday evening September 25th in Salt Lake City

During the ENA General Assembly, delegates from across the country discuss and vote on many issues of importance to emergency nurses.  It is a great experience!  Not only is it an opportunity to learn about current emergency care issues, it is an opportunity to meet and network with emergency nurses from across the nation.  All Massachusetts ENA members are encouraged to submit a delegate’s application.

Please do not be intimidated by the “points system” on the application.  In the past, delegates have been selected who have not had BIG points.  If you have attended a few chapter meetings, NERS, are a CEN or are TNCC, ENPC or ACLS certified or have even recruited a new ENA member, you are already accumulating points.  We find that each delegate, experienced or novice,  brings their individual insights and ideas to the discussions.

An alternative method of applying to become a delegate is to write a letter of interest and submit this with the completed demographic portion of the application.  Let us know why you would like to be a Massachusetts ENA delegate and how you would use this experience.   The letter and demographic information should also be sent to Faye Everson at the above address by the deadline of July 1, 2007.

Each delegate is provided with a $500.00 stipend to be used for accommodations in Salt Lake City.  Please save and submit receipts to Carlene Kincaid, Massachusetts ENA treasurer at 31 Old Barn Rd Lenox, MA 01240.  Delegates are encouraged to arrive in Salt Lake City on Tuesday September 25th – General Assembly commences early (8:00 am) on Wednesday September 26th.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Faye or any of the Mass ENA State Council officers.  You can find their e-mail addresses on the Mass ENA web site www.mass-ena.org at  the link “2007 State Council officers”.

Good Luck!!   Thank you for your interest!
