In 2007, Donna Sena took over the position as full time manager of Fairview Hospital’s eight bed Emergency Department (ED). In the 4 years prior to this, Donna had shared the position with Kit Hafele, RN, CEN, the department’s previous manager. Donna has over 19 years of experience as an ED nurse and has brought new ideas and changes to the department. In the last year the ED has added 2 beds and a new triage area. As coordinator of Emergency Preparedness for Fairview Hospital, Donna has encouraged the ED staff to actively participate in both tabletop and live HAZMAT drills. In 2007, Donna Sena received the Massachusetts State Council Manager of the Year award

 

 

   

Leadership in Healthcare Award –

Roberta Gale, RN, Emergency Department

Roberta Gale joined the Berkshire Medical Center in April of 1995
and served for many years as the Emergency Department Educator. 
She recently accepted the position of Clinical Leader in the Emergency Department. 
“Roberta is a skilled E.D. Nurse who has aggressively Continued to expand her knowledge base,
both educationally and with practical experience,” according to Arthur Milano,
Vice President of Human Resources. 
“Roberta practices in a professional and caring manner,
whether she is teaching staff nurses or acting as a mentor for new staff during the first days of orientation,
or the first time in the triage nurse roll. 
She has developed an E.D. pathways course for new staff;
she has worked consistently to reinforce the use of e-learning for both annual education modules
and for on-going educational needs, she helps to organize numerous continuing education programs. 
She also takes her work on the road for the BHS in the community.”
