Please
consider nominating a peer for 2007 and encourage your co-workers to consider
nominating
someone. We have a lot of talent in the
state and how wonderful it would be to
recognize
them. Each recipient will receive a
certificate of appreciation and a 1 year ENA
membership
8. It is
never too late to think about our own Mass 2007 elections
We
will be electing:
President-elect
Secretary
Treasurer
5
Board of Directors members
9. Massachusetts
ENA committees are struggling. We have a
number of committees of “1"
Please
contact committee chairs (found on-line at www.mass-ena.org)
and offer your
membership
and participation.
The
following committees need chairs/co-chairs:
Injury
Prevention
Trauma
Bylaws/Nominations
10. We
need to consider restructuring how we run our elections process. Currently ballots are mailed to each
member. As our membership grows, not
only is this time-consuming, but also expensive. This year we had about a 22% return rate -
which is OK - considering a stamped, addressed envelope is provided. Other states have similar dilemmas. A few do e-mail voting, many have systems
similar to ours.
There
are many survey companies available which are cost-effective and efficient ways
to
ask
our members their opinions and perhaps a ways we can run our elections. Please visit
www.surveymonkey.com and consider this as an option. The annual cost is $200 or
$19.95/month. It allows unlimited questions and up to 1000
responses/month. A free trial
or
basic subscription is available as well.
It limits the number of questions/month to 10 and
responses
to 100.
We
would not need a bylaws change to vote electronically. We would need to provide
a
ballot
to all members and so would probably need to do a combination of mailed and
electronic
ballots.
11. As
always, we are looking for content for the web site and for the newsletter.
12. Please
see the October Exec committee conference call minutes for a list of meeting
and call dates for 2007. The web site
has not been updated to reflect these as we were waiting for approval of these
minutes.
13. NERS
2007 meeting follows this state council meeting. All the committee members have done an
incredible job putting together an exciting program with great speakers and
activities. Anyone interested in working
on NERS 2007 is welcome. We wish to say
Thank You to Donna Zimmerman, the education committee chair who has resigned to
relocate to California. She lead the
group in putting together an interesting group of speakers and topics. Gail Lenehan and Ann Manton will be assuming
the position as co-chairs. We are very
fortunate to have their expertise.
14. Thank
you for your continued support and participation in Massachusetts ENA. I look forward to 2 incredible years with
Faye as our President. Please continue
to support her as you have me. I so
appreciate your dedication to ENA and your friendship to me.
Thank
you
