NERS  Planning Meeting, 4/12/2006, Taunton, MA

 

 

Present: Robin Walsh, Faye Everson, Julie Bunn, Phyllis Berg, Mary Martel, Gina Crocker, Carlene Kincaid, Jeanne Ulmer, Joan Cooper-Zack, Jay Barrett, Gail Lenehan, and Kay McLain

 

 

The requirements of the planning committee as outlined in the ENA bylaws were discussed including the requirement for chairperson for each committee and accurate documentation via minutes of all planning meetings.

 

This year NH is hosting NERS and Julie Bunn spoke with Gail from NH ENA and they have agreed to pass along the NERS planning book to MA ENA after their conference the end of April.

 

Flyers to be handed out at NERS 2006 have already been designed with a “Save the Date and Place” format. MA ENA members going to NERS 2006 will bring them for distribution.

 

The theme for NERS 2007 was decided after brainstorming with committee members. The final selection was:

The brochure will include sketches of Plymouth artifacts and historical sites.  Faye and Jeannie both offered to ask friend/relatives with artistic talents to do sketches/art work for the brochure/flyers.  They will bring samples and related costs to the next planning meeting and the committee will choose.

 

                        Selection of chairpersons for each committee and descriptions of their responsibilities followed. The following were selected:

            Co-Chairs NERS planning committee 2007: Julie Bunn and Gina Crocker

                        They are responsible for all the activities of the various committees. Chairs of respective committees report to them.

 

            Secretary: Mary Martel

                        Responsible for taking minutes and forwarding a copy to each committee chairperson and the President of the State ENA. The secretary is also responsible for maintaining an updated mailing list set which will be used for mailing and pass it on to the state that will be presenting the program the following year.

 

 

            Treasurer: Phyllis Berg and Jay Barrett

                        Responsible for maintaining a monthly summary of all revenue and expenses, compiling a financial summary after the conclusion of the symposium and dispense any profits and/or financial liabilities once the indebtedness of the present program has been met.

 

 

            Education Chair: Donna Zimmerman

                        Responsible for planning the program, selecting speakers, and obtaining CEU’s and monitoring of the program.  This committee will also be responsible for assisting with the development of the syllabus and brochure.

 

Registration: Deb Delaney

                        Responsible for collating all incoming registrations, and monitoring registration attendance during the actual program and awarding CEU certificates.

 

            Publicity: Kay McLain

                        Responsible for all the publicity needs of the program and the development and distribution of the brochures.

 

            Vendors: Debbie Tonelli

                        Responsible for obtaining exhibitor support of the program, and monitoring exhibitor needs during the program.

 

Hospitality: Joan Cooper-Zack and Jeanne Ulmer

                        Responsible for researching and developing social activities for program participants in the area and during the program.

 

            All Chairs are responsible for eliciting committee members to help with their assignments as needed and reporting to Co-chairs monthly on progress. 

 

   The dates for NERS 2007 is April 25-27, Weds thru Friday. Weds and Thursday will be full days and half day on Friday to allow participates who may wish to stay on and enjoy the weekend in Plymouth. It will be held at the Radisson Hotel, Plymouth, MA.  The conference rooms allow for 2 breakout sessions throughout the day.

 

    There was a recommendation made to Education to elicit a speaker from the Schwartz Center. Reviews of these speakers have been favorable in the past.

                       

            There was discussion regarding how often the planning committee should meet. It was agreed that every other month would be a conference call of chairpersons and the full planning committee would meet before the state council meetings.  Conference call of committee chairs will be 5/18 @ 6pm.            Full planning committee meeting will be 6/21 @ 4pm in N. Hampton.
